Astrogate Labs has raised $1.3 million in a pre-Series funding round led by Piper Serica Angel Fund, according to a report by The Economic Times. The funding will support the company’s efforts in advancing space laser communication terminals and exploring applications for terrestrial and airborne communication.
Expansion of Laser Communication Technology
Founded by Nitish Singh, Yogeshwaran J, and Subhajit Chakraborty, Astrogate Labs develops laser communication solutions designed to improve data transmission for small satellite networks. The growing number of small satellites, projected to exceed 25,000 by 2030, has increased demand for efficient data transfer methods. Traditional radio frequency systems face bandwidth limitations and spectrum congestion, whereas laser communication technology offers higher-speed data transmission, with capabilities reaching 10 Gbps.
The company is focusing on developing scalable solutions to enhance data communication efficiency for satellite operators.
Strategic Developments and Industry Collaborations
The newly secured funds will be used for product development and operational expansion. Astrogate Labs plans to strengthen collaborations with defence organizations and space agencies, aligning its technology with sector-specific requirements. Additionally, the funding will support research initiatives aimed at refining laser communication solutions.
The company has previously received institutional recognition through programs such as the DRDO Dare to Dream 4.0 initiative and the Seraphim Space Accelerator APAC Program in 2023.
Investor Support and Future Plans
Astrogate Labs has previously raised funding from investors including Speciale Invest, SatSure, and Anicut Capital. The latest investment is expected to accelerate the company’s growth in the space technology sector.
The company aims to expand its role in satellite communication technology as demand increases for advanced space-based data transmission solutions.
