Bharat Forge Ltd. (BFL) and VEDA Aeronautics (P) Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and high-speed aerial weapon systems. Under the agreement, Bharat Forge will supply micro jet engines for the unmanned systems developed by VEDA Aeronautics.
BFL has been working on indigenous jet engine development, focusing on engines with thrust up to 400 Kgf. The company stated that its 40 Kgf and 45 Kgf jet engines are currently in serial production and will be integrated into VEDA Aeronautics' defence projects.
VEDA Aeronautics specializes in unmanned systems for defence applications, including long-range combat UAVs, high-speed aerial targets, and jet-based UAV systems launched from multiple barrels.
The agreement is part of efforts to enhance domestic defence manufacturing capabilities.
