Garuda Aerospace has announced a ₹100 crore investment to develop a drone-focused facility in Orvakal village, Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. The initiative aims to support drone innovation and research.
This development aligns with Andhra Pradesh's Drone Policy 4.0 (2024-29), which seeks to attract ₹1,000 crore in investments, generate employment for 40,000 individuals, and train 25,000 drone pilots. A key component of this policy is the establishment of a 300-acre Drone City in Orvakal, designed to serve as a centralized space for drone research, manufacturing, and testing.
Garuda Aerospace has obtained six approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), including Type Certification and Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) certifications.
The announcement was made during a meeting with Civil Aviation Minister Rama Mohan Naidu. During the meeting, Garuda Aerospace's founder and CEO, Agnishwar Jayaprakash, discussed the company's involvement in drone-related initiatives.
The planned development is expected to facilitate advancements in drone technology and related applications.
