ICGS Akshay Commissioned into Bharatiya Tatrakshak Fleet
GoaThe Bharatiya Tatrakshak (Indian Coast Guard) has commissioned ICGS Akshay, a new-generation Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV), at Goa Shipyard Limited, marking another milestone in India's maritime force modernisation.
Designed and built indigenously by Goa Shipyard Limited, the vessel strengthens India's domestic shipbuilding capabilities under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Equipped for maritime law enforcement, coastal security, search and rescue, environmental protection, and assistance to vessels in distress, ICGS Akshay will enhance the Coast Guard's operational readiness across India's maritime domain.
The induction of ICGS Akshay reinforces India's growing focus on indigenous defence manufacturing while boosting maritime security and expanding the country's self-reliant naval and coast guard capabilities.On Date:
