New Delhi: Tata group is interested in bidding for Air India as the group needs to increase the sizes of its aviation business, said Mr.N.Chandrasekaran, Chairman Tata group in an interview in television channel CNBC TV18 on Monday.

Tata would “definitely look” at Air India once the government finalised the privatization process said Chairman Tata group.

He said Tata, which already has two small airline joint ventures in India, one with Singapore Airlines and the other with Malaysia’s AirAsia , was still not clear about what a sale would look like.

Earlier Indigo has said that they are interested in Airindia's international business.

The Government of India has ‘in-principle’ decided to consider the disinvestment of the AI group as a whole or its constituents fully or part thereof through strategic sale with transfer of management control. For this purpose, Ministry of Civil Aviation on behalf of Government of India, has already floated a tender for the services of reputed Asset Valuer to carry out the valuation.
