Asteria Aerospace has announced the delivery of its AT-15 Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) drones to the Indian Army, marking the company's largest contract for the platform to date. The drones, designed for surveillance and reconnaissance, are tailored to meet operational requirements in high-altitude and challenging environments.
The AT-15 drones feature a blended wing design for enhanced aerodynamics and wind resistance, supporting operations at altitudes up to 6,000 metres. Equipped with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, the drones can operate from confined spaces and are suitable for tactical deployments. They offer extended flight durations of up to 120 minutes and a range of 20 kilometres.
The drones are fitted with an EO-IR (electro-optical and infrared) payload, including high-zoom cameras for day and night intelligence gathering. Built with composite materials, the AT-15 is lightweight, portable, and designed for durability in field operations.
Neel Mehta, Director and Co-founder of Asteria Aerospace, said the delivery highlights the company's focus on addressing the evolving needs of defence forces.
The company’s 28,000-square-foot facility in Bengaluru serves as the primary site for the design and manufacturing of these drones. It includes a DSIR-recognised R&D lab and adheres to stringent quality standards. Asteria Aerospace also operates an office in Gurugram to support its clientele in the defence and government sectors.
