Pixxel, a space technology company operating in the US and India, has announced a partnership with UK-based Geospatial Insight to integrate hyperspectral satellite data into climate and environmental monitoring applications.
Under the agreement, Geospatial Insight will use data from Pixxel’s 5-meter resolution hyperspectral satellites in its climate intelligence platform. The collaboration will support applications in risk monitoring, emissions reduction, and carbon sequestration measurement. Pixxel’s data will also be incorporated into Geospatial Insight’s GHGWatch platform, which focuses on greenhouse gas monitoring and air quality assessments.
Beyond climate-related applications, the partnership could extend into infrastructure monitoring, enabling environmental, social, and governance (ESG) planning, risk mitigation, and sustainable development initiatives.
Geospatial Insight CEO Dave Fox stated that integrating Pixxel’s hyperspectral data into GHGWatch will help clients develop emissions reduction strategies and comply with environmental regulations.
Pixxel recently launched three commercial hyperspectral satellites, named Fireflies, aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission. An additional three Firefly satellites are scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2025. The constellation is designed to capture data across more than 150 spectral bands at a 5-meter resolution, with a 40 km swath width and a daily revisit rate.
Pixxel has raised $95 million in funding and works with over 50 early adopter customers globally. The company offers flexible tasking, simplified pricing, and custom band selection, which are expected to enhance the capabilities of Geospatial Insight’s analytics platform.
