The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Delhi Research Implementation and Innovation (DRIIV) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance safety, efficiency, and sustainable practices in India’s aviation sector. The agreement, formalized at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, is intended to foster innovation and address specific challenges within the sector.
The MoU was signed by Shyamli Haldar, Executive Director of Air Traffic Management at AAI, and Shipra Mishra, CEO and Managing Director of DRIIV. The collaboration is expected to establish an ecosystem that supports start-ups in developing technology solutions tailored to civil aviation needs.
Key initiatives outlined under the AAI-DRIIV partnership include:
Innovation Ecosystem Development: DRIIV, with support from AAI, will engage start-ups to address safety, efficiency, and sustainability challenges in aviation.
Emerging Technology Support: Leveraging AAI's expertise and data, DRIIV will collaborate with start-ups to develop solutions for critical civil aviation issues.
Research and Development (R&D) Promotion: DRIIV will advance the Civil Aviation Research Organization (CARO) as an R&D hub, working with national and international research agencies to drive technology aligned with India’s development goals.
Innovation Challenge: AAI and DRIIV will conduct innovation challenges at CARO, inviting contributions from start-ups, researchers, and technology experts to present new solutions for the aviation sector.
AAI Chairman M. Suresh described the partnership as a key step toward enhancing aviation safety and operational efficiency while supporting the sector's sustainable growth.
