The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted release trials of the Long-Range Glide Bomb (LRGB) ‘Gaurav’ from April 8 to 10, 2025. The 1,000 kg class weapon was released from a Su-30 MKI aircraft and demonstrated a range of approximately 100 kilometers during the tests.
According to a press release issued by DRDO, the glide bomb was integrated with multiple stations in different warhead configurations and tested against a land target located on an island. The trials involved participation from senior officials of DRDO and the Indian Air Force (IAF).
‘Gaurav’ has been designed and developed by Research Centre Imarat, Armament Research and Development Establishment, and the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur. The weapon system was manufactured with support from Development-cum-Production Partners including Adani Defence Systems & Technologies, Bharat Forge, and various micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Certification and quality assurance for the system were carried out by the Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification and the Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance.
DRDO stated that the successful trials pave the way for induction of the system into the IAF.
