The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), through its Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE) in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, has transferred technologies of nine defence systems to 10 companies. The transfer agreements were provided during an event held on June 7, 2025, in the presence of DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat.
The systems transferred include the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Recce Vehicle (Tracked) Mk-II to Bharat Electronics Limited and the Mounted Gun System to Bharat Forge Limited. Metaltech Motor Bodies Private Limited received the technology for the Anti-Terrorist Vehicle - Tracked Version.
The technology for the full trailer of the 70-tonne tank transporter for the Main Battle Tank (MBT) Arjun Mk-1A was transferred to four companies: BEML Limited, Tata International Vehicle Applications, SDR Auto Private Limited, and John Galt International. Bharat Electronics Limited also received the technology for the Expandable Mobile Shelter.
Tata Advanced Systems Limited acquired the technology for the Vajra-Riot Control Vehicle, while BEML Limited received technologies for both the Unit Maintenance Vehicle and the Unit Repair Vehicle for the MBT Arjun. The Multi-Purpose Decontamination System technology was transferred to Dass Hitachi Limited and Goma Engineering Private Limited.
VRDE also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with COEP Technological University, Pune, to collaborate on advanced technologies and emerging fields.
Senior officials from DRDO, including Distinguished Scientist and Director General (Armament and Combat Engineering) Cluster Prateek Kishore and VRDE Director G Ramamohana Rao, attended the event along with industry representatives.
DRDO is an agency under India’s Ministry of Defence that develops defence technologies across various sectors including aeronautics, armaments, electronics, and land combat systems. VRDE is one of DRDO’s laboratories focused on research and development of military vehicles and related systems.
