IBS Software, a Software as a Service (SaaS) provider for the travel industry, is exploring new business opportunities in India's airline and loyalty programme sectors, according to Executive Chairman V K Mathews. The company is already providing software solutions for air cargo operations and staff travel management for Air India and is considering potential engagements with IndiGo and Akasa Air.
The Singapore-headquartered firm employs around 5,000 people and serves approximately 200 clients across aviation, travel and cruise, hospitality, and energy sectors. Its airline customers include Emirates, British Airways, China Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, Japan Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, and Virgin Atlantic.
Mathews noted that the Indian market is price-sensitive, with IT solutions often perceived as a cost rather than a value-add. However, he expects this perception to shift as the economy grows. While IBS Software has not yet achieved significant success in India and China compared to other markets, Mathews sees long-term growth potential in India’s aviation sector, which is expanding to meet rising demand.
He also highlighted emerging industry trends such as technology-driven airline retailing, travel commerce, and enhanced customer relationships. IBS Software provides solutions for departure controls, check-in, and cargo management, among other airline and airport operations.
The company is particularly interested in India's loyalty programme market, viewing it as a potential area for expansion.
