The Ministry of Defence of India and Spain held the 5th Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting in New Delhi to discuss ongoing and future defence cooperation. The meeting was co-chaired by Joint Secretary for International Cooperation Amitabh Prasad and Special Advisor on Defence Diplomacy to the Secretary General of Defence Policy, Brigadier General Paulino Garcia Diego.
Discussions covered existing bilateral defence engagements and future collaboration, with a focus on maritime security, technology exchange, and armament production. Both sides emphasized strengthening defence industry partnerships.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the C295 aircraft project, a collaboration between Airbus Spain and Tata Advanced Systems Limited. The project, under India’s defence manufacturing initiative, has facilitated increased cooperation between Indian and Spanish aerospace firms.
The discussions are part of broader efforts to expand defence ties between the two nations through joint initiatives and industry partnerships.
