MaharashtraDefence Minister Rajnath Singh and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a new Defence Manufacturing Complex developed by the NIBE Group in Shirdi, marking another major step in India’s push for defence self-reliance.
The facility will focus on manufacturing advanced artillery systems, missile and space technologies, rocket systems, energetic materials, and autonomous defence platforms. During the event, India’s first 300-km Universal Rocket Launching System, Suryastra, was also flagged off, while the foundation stone for a dedicated missile complex was laid.
An MoU between NIBE Group and BlackSky for satellite assembly cooperation highlighted the growing integration of India’s defence and space sectors.
Speaking at the event, Rajnath Singh stressed the importance of indigenous defence production, advanced munitions, automation, and next-generation warfare technologies in strengthening India’s strategic capabilities. He also highlighted the increasing role of private industry, MSMEs, and startups in building a globally competitive defence manufacturing ecosystem under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.
