JSW Defence has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government to establish a facility for manufacturing Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). The investment, totaling ₹800 crore, will be made through JSW UAV, a subsidiary of JSW Defence, in collaboration with US-based Shield AI, Inc.
According to a company statement, the facility will manufacture Shield AI's "V-BAT," a Group 3 UAS, under a strategic partnership aimed at supporting domestic production of defence technology.
The MoU was signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister Revant Reddy and Parth Jindal from JSW Group.
JSW Defence is part of the ₹24 billion JSW Group, which has diversified interests in sectors including energy, infrastructure, and cement. The Telangana government has been actively promoting the state as a hub for manufacturing across various industries, including defence and aerospace.
This development aligns with ongoing efforts to expand domestic manufacturing capabilities in the defence sector.
