Pixxel has deployed solar panels supplied by DHV Technology on its Firefly satellites, marking one of its initial procurement orders for the constellation. DHV Technology provided six sets of solar panels and an additional qualification model to support the satellite power system.
The Firefly satellites, part of Pixxel’s hyperspectral Earth observation constellation, aim to provide data for various applications. The company recently launched three Firefly satellites aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission, with three more scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2025.
DHV Technology's Managing Director, Vicente Díaz, stated that the company supplied customized solar arrays for the mission. Kshitij Khandelwal, Founder and CTO of Pixxel, noted that the collaboration with DHV Technology spanned five years and emphasized the supplier's role in ensuring quality and timeliness.
Pixxel’s satellites are designed to collect hyperspectral data across more than 150 spectral bands with a 5-meter resolution and a 40-kilometer swath width. The company states that its constellation will offer a daily revisit rate for Earth observation applications.
