Sakthi Aircraft Industry, a joint venture between India’s Sakthi Group and Austria’s Diamond Aircraft, plans to manufacture 200 trainer aircraft at a facility in Haryana, aiming to enhance aviation manufacturing capacity in India. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Aero Club of India to align with international aviation standards.
In a related development, Air India has ordered 34 trainer aircraft, comprising 31 single-engine planes from Piper Aircraft and 3 twin-engine DA42-VI models from Diamond Aircraft, for its upcoming Flight Training Organisation in Amravati, Maharashtra. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2025.
Diamond Aircraft, established in 1981 and headquartered in Austria, specializes in light aircraft and simulators, with over 1,300 employees as of 2023.
These initiatives reflect a broader trend in India's aviation sector, emphasizing the development of indigenous manufacturing capabilities and advanced pilot training infrastructure.
