SAMTEL Avionics and HENSOLDT Avionics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-produce avionics systems in India. The agreement, finalized on February 12 at Aero India 2025, aims to manufacture three HENSOLDT products domestically: the LCR 100 flight recorder, the Cavi Sight visual landing aid system, and the Cavi Connect data link system.
The collaboration is expected to facilitate technology transfer, expand domestic manufacturing capabilities, and support employment in the Indian defence sector. The co-produced systems will be used in civil and military aviation applications.
The LCR 100 is a lightweight ED-155 flight recorder that integrates voice, data, and video recording. The Cavi Sight system functions as a visual landing aid and video switching system for helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Cavi Connect system enables secure two-way data exchange between aircraft and ground personnel using LTE (4G) networks.
Puneet Kaura, CEO of SAMTEL Avionics, stated that the partnership with HENSOLDT would focus on developing avionics solutions to improve operational efficiency and safety. Eugen Maier, Head of Sales Airborne Solutions at HENSOLDT Avionics, said the collaboration aims to provide locally manufactured solutions tailored to Indian aviation requirements.
The co-production initiative aligns with India's efforts to enhance indigenous defence manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports.
