SDHI and Wheel & Time Collaborate on Integrated Logistics Platform at Pipavav Shipyard

Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI) has signed an agreement with Wheel & Time Shipping Transport Logistics to introduce an integrated logistics platform for fabrication and heavy cargo movement. The initiative, referred to as the F.A.S.T. (Fabrication, Assembly, Storage, and Transportation) ecosystem, will operate from SDHI’s 600-acre shipyard in Pipavav, Gujarat.

The collaboration brings together SDHI’s manufacturing infrastructure and Wheel & Time’s expertise in moving heavy and oversized equipment. The model is aimed at supporting projects in sectors including offshore energy, port infrastructure, petrochemicals, and wind power. The facility is equipped to handle fabrication, assembly, on-site storage, and direct transportation of large-scale industrial components, potentially reducing time and coordination required for such projects.

SDHI’s shipyard includes 1.2 kilometres of waterfront access, a large dry dock, and a fabrication capacity of 10,000 tonnes per month. It is equipped with CNC cutting systems, robotic welding units, and hydraulic presses capable of handling up to 1,600 tonnes. These capabilities allow the facility to produce large, heavy structures and prepare them for direct export or domestic transport without requiring offsite handling.

Wheel & Time will provide heavy transport systems such as Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), hydraulic trailers, and marine transport vessels. These will support the global movement of over-dimensional cargo directly from the shipyard.
