Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has acquired a 740,000 square foot land parcel in Karnataka’s Vemgal Industrial Area to establish a new aerospace manufacturing facility. The land was purchased under a lease-cum-sale agreement with the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) for INR 293.4 million.
The site is situated near the Kolar-Chikkaballapur Road and is about 10 kilometres from the industrial zones of Narasapura and Jakkasandra. The agreement includes a lease period of ten years with an annual rent of INR 17,011 and annual maintenance costs of INR 255,000. TASL also paid a stamp duty of INR 15 million as part of the transaction.
According to company filings, the planned facility will focus on aircraft assembly operations and related MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) services. The specific aircraft types to be manufactured or supported at the location have not yet been disclosed.
TASL’s latest land acquisition aligns with its continued expansion in aerospace and defence manufacturing. The company is currently developing a separate facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, in partnership with Airbus Spain for the assembly of C-295 transport aircraft. Deliveries from that plant are expected to begin in 2026.
Additionally, TASL is collaborating with Lockheed Martin to build a defence MRO facility in Bengaluru, targeting support services for Hercules and Super Hercules fleets.
