Tata Elxsi and the National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of advanced air mobility technologies, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The partnership will combine CSIR-NAL's expertise in aeronautical research with Tata Elxsi’s capabilities in electrification, artificial intelligence, sensor fusion, and certification. The collaboration aims to expedite product development and testing cycles for both Indian and global markets, addressing applications in logistics, agriculture, defense, and urban transportation.
The agreement includes a focus on aerodynamic design, autonomous systems, and secure communications for manned and unmanned air mobility systems. It also envisions creating a broader ecosystem involving precision manufacturing, component suppliers, and tool vendors to support the development of air mobility solutions.
Manoj Raghavan, CEO of Tata Elxsi, highlighted the importance of emerging aerospace technologies in driving innovation, while Abhay A Pashilkar, Director of CSIR-NAL, emphasized the potential for scalable and sustainable solutions through the partnership.
This initiative aligns with India’s growing demand for advanced air mobility and related technologies, contributing to the broader goals of domestic manufacturing and ecosystem development.
The collaboration reflects ongoing efforts to shape industry standards and foster innovation within the aerospace sector.
