KeralaThe TATA Group has proposed a ₹10,000 crore investment to establish its first-ever shipyard in Kerala, marking a significant entry into India's maritime sector. The project, which is under consideration by the Kerala government, is expected to complement the recently operational Vizhinjam International Seaport and strengthen the state's shipbuilding and maritime industries.
If approved, the shipyard will support the development of a broader maritime ecosystem encompassing shipbuilding, ship repair, marine engineering, and logistics, while generating employment and attracting further industrial investment. The move would also reinforce India's ambitions to expand indigenous shipbuilding capacity under its maritime development initiatives.Friday, July 17, 2026
