Visteon Corporation has announced the opening of a new Global Capability Center (GCC) in Kolkata, India, set to begin operations in January 2025. This marks the company's seventh technical center in the country and aims to enhance its capabilities in software development for automotive applications.
The center will serve as a specialized hub for Android-based infotainment systems and other cockpit software technologies, including autonomous vehicle solutions, cybersecurity, multimedia, and cloud technologies. By the end of 2026, it is expected to accommodate 300 engineers, with plans to expand to over 500 engineers within the next two to three years.
The facility, which has received USGBC LEED Platinum certification, incorporates sustainability features such as solar panels and water recycling systems.
Visteon employs more than 2,000 personnel in India, with existing technical centers located in Chennai, Goa, Bangalore, Pune, Trivandrum, and Coimbatore. The company has emphasized its focus on developing talent pipelines through partnerships with universities in the region.
The new center was inaugurated during an event attended by government representatives, industry leaders, and members of Visteon’s leadership, including its President and CEO, Sachin Lawande. In a statement, Lawande highlighted the strategic importance of the Kolkata center and the company's intent to leverage the local talent pool to address global automotive technology needs.
Visteon, headquartered in Van Buren Township, Michigan, operates in 18 countries and recorded approximately $3.95 billion in annual sales in 2023. The company's focus remains on advancing automotive technology through software-defined and electric vehicle innovations.
