Nagpur-based Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited inaugurated a new Loitering Munition Testing Range and a runway facility for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) on March 30. The facility includes a 1,250-meter-long and 25-meter-wide airstrip designed to support UAV operations, as well as a live munition and warhead testing site for loitering munitions and guided weaponry.
The inauguration was part of a series of infrastructure developments in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The newly launched testing range is expected to enhance UAV and loitering munition research, development, and validation processes. The event also included the laying of the foundation stone for the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre in Nagpur, which will expand ophthalmic care infrastructure in the region.
In Chhattisgarh, multiple infrastructure projects amounting to INR 337 billion were initiated or inaugurated, including power generation and transmission projects, rail and road network expansions, and educational initiatives. Key projects included the foundation stone laying for the 800MW Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III in Bilaspur and the commencement of work on the 2X660MW Super Critical Thermal Power Project by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited.
The event also marked the dedication of 130 PM SHRI Schools across 29 districts in Chhattisgarh, aimed at modernizing educational infrastructure. Additionally, railway projects totaling 219 km in length were launched or inaugurated, along with enhancements in road connectivity through national highway upgrades. Housing initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin were also advanced, with 300,000 beneficiaries receiving housing allocations.
These developments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen India's industrial, transportation, and energy sectors.
