Indian defence electronics firm Data Patterns has positioned its Hawk-I-2700 GaN AESA radar as a strong contender for the Indian Air Force's Su-30MKI upgrade programme, offering advanced indigenous radar capabilities and detection ranges of up to 350 km.
Unveiled at Aero India 2025, the X-band radar features 2,400–2,700 Gallium Nitride (GaN) transmit/receive modules (TRMs), delivering improved power efficiency, thermal management, and target detection over legacy radar systems. It also incorporates a Swash Controller Unit, enabling a wider field of view and enhanced multi-target tracking.
The Hawk-I-2700 will compete with DRDO's Virupaksha AESA radar as the Indian Air Force evaluates options for modernising its Su-30MKI fleet. Beyond domestic requirements, the radar is also being positioned for export to international Su-30 operators, reinforcing India's growing capabilities in indigenous defence electronics and advanced radar technology.Friday, July 17, 2026
