The Indian Navy will commission INS Malvan, the second Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), on 22 July, strengthening India's indigenous coastal defence capabilities. The commissioning ceremony will be attended by Air Chief Marshal A P Singh and Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, highlighting the strategic importance of the induction.
Built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, INS Malvan features over 80% indigenous content and has been designed for anti-submarine warfare, surveillance, mine warfare, and other coastal security operations. Its induction follows INS Arnala and forms part of an eight-vessel Mahe-class program aimed at enhancing the Navy's shallow-water combat capabilities while advancing the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.On Date:
