ideaForge Technology Ltd. has secured ₹151 crore in government funding to accelerate the development of Yeti, an indigenous heavy-lift logistics drone designed to support military operations in India's high-altitude Himalayan regions.
ideaForge is among the first companies to receive financing under the programme, which aims to promote indigenous innovation in sectors such as AI, robotics, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing.
Designed as a Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) platform, Yeti is capable of carrying payloads of up to 200 kg over distances of 200 km. It is engineered to operate autonomously in extreme environments, including high-altitude Himalayan posts, deserts, forests, and offshore locations, while requiring only small, semi-prepared launch sites.
The platform is intended to deliver ammunition, equipment, and critical supplies to remote forward locations where conventional road transport or manned aircraft face operational limitations. Its autonomous operation is expected to reduce reliance on vulnerable ground convoys while improving the speed and reliability of military logistics in difficult terrain.
Beyond defence, Yeti is also being developed for applications such as disaster response, infrastructure support, offshore resupply, and industrial logistics.
