Uttar PradeshDroneYards, based in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, has unveiled a new vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) UAV designed for tactical reconnaissance, surveillance and forward-area operations.
The UAV offers approximately two hours of flight endurance, allowing it to conduct sustained aerial surveillance without frequent recovery. Its VTOL capability enables deployment from confined, rugged or runway-independent locations, making it suitable for mountainous terrain, border areas and forward operating bases.
The platform is intended to support intelligence gathering, border surveillance, artillery coordination and tactical reconnaissance. Its combination of vertical launch and landing with extended endurance could provide commanders with persistent aerial coverage in remote and contested environments.
The development builds on DroneYards’ growing involvement in India’s indigenous military drone ecosystem. Earlier in 2026, the company delivered 300 ordnance-dropping drones capable of carrying 51 mm mortar payloads to the Indian Army’s Northern Command. The systems featured electronic-warfare resilience, secure telemetry and triple radio redundancy.
DroneYards has also demonstrated its Spector Surveillance UAV, a fixed-wing platform designed for endurance and long-range battlefield awareness.
The company’s broader portfolio includes combat UAVs, FPV drones, surveillance platforms and rapid-deployment aerial systems. Its focus on reducing dependence on foreign components in critical subsystems aligns with India’s Make in India and defence-indigenisation efforts.
The new VTOL platform adds a flexible reconnaissance capability to this portfolio, particularly for challenging environments such as Ladakh and other high-altitude border regions, where conventional UAV deployment can be difficult.Saturday, August 22, 2026
