Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra has assumed leadership of the Indian Air Force's Western Air Command as of January 1, 2025. Mishra, a fighter pilot commissioned on December 6, 1986, has over 3,000 hours of flying experience and a service record spanning more than 38 years.
Mishra's career includes several command and staff roles. These include leading a fighter squadron, serving as Chief Test Pilot at the Aircraft & Systems Testing Establishment, commanding two operational air bases, and holding senior positions such as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Projects) and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff for Operations.
An alumnus of institutions such as the National Defence Academy in Pune, the Air Force Test Pilots School in Bangalore, and international defense colleges in the US and UK, Mishra is also recognized as a Fighter Combat Leader and an experimental test pilot.
Mishra succeeds Pankaj Mohan Sinha, who retired on December 31, 2024, after 39 years of service in the Indian Air Force.
