Ananth Technologies, Vinvish, and Aeroprecision Form Consortium for Aerospace Manufacturing

Aerospace companies Ananth Technologies Limited (ATL), Vinvish Technologies, and Aeroprecision have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a consortium aimed at securing contracts in rocketry and related aerospace manufacturing. The initiative is supported by KSPACE, a government agency focused on the aerospace sector in Kerala.
The agreement allows the three companies to bid jointly for projects in space, aviation, and defence manufacturing. The consortium seeks to increase Kerala’s participation in outsourced aerospace manufacturing work, which currently accounts for less than 10% of the Indian space agency’s external contracts.
Consortium Objectives and Industry Context
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has been expanding private sector involvement in its projects, leading to new business opportunities in the space sector. In recent years, several southern states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, have introduced policies to attract investment in aerospace manufacturing. The newly formed consortium aims to position Kerala-based firms as competitive players in this evolving industry.
KSPACE CEO G Levin stated that the agency’s role in the consortium is to facilitate collaboration among private firms while ensuring industry growth in Kerala. He cited the recent USD 103 million contract for five Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles (PSLVs), awarded to a consortium led by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), as an example of large-scale opportunities that require strong private sector partnerships.
Manufacturing Capabilities of Consortium Partners
Each of the three companies brings specific capabilities to the consortium:
Aeroprecision: Specializes in high-precision aerospace component manufacturing and operates a production facility in Trivandrum.
Vinvish Technologies: Focuses on fabrication engineering and maintains international operations, with ongoing expansion in Trivandrum to support global projects.
Ananth Technologies Limited (ATL): Develops electronic and mechanical subsystems for launch vehicles and satellites, with manufacturing units in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Trivandrum. The company has supplied satellite components to clients in Europe and the United States.
The MoU was signed on March 3 by Ananth Technologies Chairman Subba Rao Pavuluri, Vinvish Technologies COO Pius Varughese, and Aeroprecision Managing Director PS Sarilal.
Growth Potential in Aerospace Manufacturing
The Indian space industry is currently valued at approximately USD 8.4 billion, representing 2% of the global space economy. The government has set a target to expand this to USD 44 billion by 2033, with USD 11 billion projected from exports.
Sarilal stated that demand for aerospace manufacturing is increasing and that a collaborative approach is necessary for Kerala’s firms to secure larger contracts. He noted that without unified efforts, local companies may continue to receive only smaller subcontracting work from ISRO and defence agencies.
The consortium plans to leverage private sector flexibility and pool its technical expertise to execute major aerospace projects. While the majority of production will take place in South India, smaller firms in Kerala are expected to benefit from subcontracting opportunities.
Shaijumon CS, an economics professor at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), highlighted the growing number of private aerospace companies in India, which have increased from 11 in 2019 to over 400 in 2024. He stated that Kerala-based firms could see greater success if the industry ecosystem in the state is further strengthened.
Outlook
The Kerala government has promoted a knowledge-driven economy model, focusing on high-tech industries that require specialized expertise. The formation of this consortium represents an effort to integrate the state’s existing aerospace resources into the broader national and global space manufacturing supply chain.
The consortium’s success will depend on its ability to secure contracts, attract additional industry partners, and expand local manufacturing capabilities to meet increasing aerospace demand.
