Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer is exploring opportunities to expand its supply chain in India. A company delegation recently visited the country to evaluate potential suppliers across key areas such as aerostructures, machining, composites, sheet metal, forgings, wire harnesses, and software development.
India is a significant market for Embraer, which has over 44 aircraft in operation across commercial aviation, executive jets, and defense sectors. The Indian Air Force operates three EMB 145 AEW "Netra" surveillance aircraft, while the government uses five Embraer VIP jets.
As part of its expansion efforts, Embraer is focusing on the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program. The company has partnered with Mahindra to propose the C-390 Millennium transport aircraft. If selected, the collaboration may involve setting up a local assembly line and a supply chain program to meet the requirements of the Indian government’s “Make in India” policy.
