InspeCity, a space technology company based in Thane, India, has raised USD 5.6 million in a seed funding round. The company plans to use the funds to space-qualify its satellite servicing technologies within 12 months, expand its engineering team, and support international deployment.
The funding round was led by investor Ashish Kacholia, with participation from Speciale Invest, Shastra VC, Antler India, DeVC, MGF Kavachh, and Anicut Capital. According to the company, the investment will accelerate the transition from research and development to commercial deployment of its in-orbit servicing platform, which integrates propulsion, robotics, and Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD) technologies.
InspeCity is a recipient of an award under the iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) program. The company stated that its participation in iDEX helped validate early-stage technologies and contributed to the development of its satellite life-extension systems.
“Our mission is to redefine the economics and sustainability of satellite operations,” said Arindrajit Chowdhury, CEO of InspeCity. “By extending the lifespan of on-orbit assets and reducing orbital debris, we unlock a cleaner, more sustainable, and cost-efficient future for space.”
The company claims to have achieved several technical milestones and has secured contracts through iDEX defence innovation challenges. It is also engaged in collaborations with space-tech ecosystems in Taiwan and Japan.
The funding will be used to support the company’s expansion efforts, including the hiring of engineering talent and the advancement of its satellite servicing platform in international markets.
Founded in 2022 by IIT Bombay alumni, InspeCity develops technologies focused on extending satellite lifespans and reducing orbital debris. Its offerings include propulsion systems, robotic arms, and navigation systems, designed for cost-effective in-space servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (ISAM).
