Infosys will set up a global capability center (GCC) in India for Lufthansa under a renewed IT contract valued at approximately $300 million, according to reports. The initiative follows a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, which has been increasingly adopted in major contract renewals.
Lufthansa Technik Services India (LTSI), a subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik, has operated in Bengaluru since 2005 and employs over 300 people. The company provides component services for commercial aircraft, including spare parts inventory access, repair and overhaul facilities, engineering support, and logistics solutions.
The move aligns with similar investments in India by other aviation companies. Delta Airlines established a technology center in Bengaluru four years ago, and American Airlines is in the process of setting up a similar facility in Hyderabad.
Infosys has previously developed GCCs for various clients. Two years ago, the company partnered with Rolls-Royce to open an aerospace engineering and digital innovation center in Bengaluru, offering research and development services and digital capabilities for Rolls-Royce’s operations in India.
The establishment of Lufthansa’s GCC in India is expected to enhance its technological and operational capabilities, leveraging Infosys’s expertise in digital transformation and IT services. The contract renewal further strengthens Infosys’s role in supporting global aviation companies with technology-driven solutions.
